About me

Hey! I'm Lianne (she/her), the one-woman show running The Odd Dodo.

Having always been creative, going down the rabbit hole of knitting and crocheting was only a matter of time. I found peace and repetitiveness mostly in knitting, which has given me a way to cope with the world. Diagnosed with autism when I was 14 made me struggle with a variety of things in this world, and knitting has helped me to regulate that.

The Odd Dodo, previously known as Sheep Yarns, started in 2020. The name change was just a matter of time. Walking down the path of self acceptance, finding a more suiting name was both scary and a relief. But to this day the best choice I've made!
At the end of 2024 my body decided it was time to take a break from dyeing yarn. It's labour intensive and dyeing yarn isn't my only job. During the day I'm a social worker, helping to protect the vulnerables of society. During the night a knitter and indie-dyer. I've been working hard on physical improvement, which has slowly been paying off. So here I am, back to dyeing yarn, however on a smaller scale and whenever my body let's me.

My aim is to run The Odd Dodo according to my personal beliefs. This means my business is not just built on creativity, but also equality and acceptance. I am part of, and ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. I stand with people of colour, migrants and everyone fighting for their rights and safety.
I also believe it's important to choose for ethical suppliers, since we have an obligation to both humans and nature to be kind to each other.

And here you are.. Thank you. You are safe, respected and celebrated for being yourself.

Have fun, express yourself <3
